Buffalo, NY – The spokesman for the Buffalo Public School District is facing charges of inappropriately touching a woman. Erie County District Attorney Frank Clark says the charges against Andrew Maddigan involved an alleged incident that occurred at downtown bar on New Year's Eve.
A woman is accusing him of improper touching in a bathroom of the Roxy's Green Room on Main Street.
Maddigan serves as special assistant to the superintendent and handles community relations for the district. Interim Schools Superintendent Yvonne Hargrave told WBFO News Wednesday that she had just returned from a trip to Syracuse and has not had a chance to discuss the matter with Maddigan and the school board. She says, for now he remains, on the job.
"I haven't had a chance to talk with him directly, but we will talk to him today. Unless he is a danger at his job, and we will have to look into it a little more, he would remain," Hargrave said. "But we have to look into it, and there are issues of confidentiality."
Hargrave says she and others in the school district are very upset about the charges.
Maddigan is scheduled to appear in Buffalo City court on the forcible touching charges May 10th. Clark says Maddigan pleaded guilty to a similar attempted assault charge back in 1983.
