Buffalo, NY – Masten District Council member Antoine Thompson is hosting a series of Black History celebrations in Buffalo this week called "Expressions of Color in Masten."
Tuesday night, the Interfaith Gospel Concert was held at the Buffalo Museum of Science. Wednesday night, a special panel discussion will take place. It's titled "Can a Black Mayor Make a Difference?" Panelists will gather at the Delevan Grider Community Center in Buffalo.
Although no candidate has made an official announcement, State Senator Byron Brown has indicated that he would run. Brown is the only African-American who has voiced interest in the mayoral seat.
Brown leads a recent Zogby Poll among potential candidates. The poll said Brown had 34 percent of city support to Mayor Masiello's 9.5 percent.
Wednesday night's panel discussion begins at 6 and is free to the public. Masten District council member Thompson will continue to host various events through this Saturday in Buffalo.
