Pataki Calls on New Yorkers to "Embrace the Dream"

By Staff

Buffalo, NY – On this Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Governor George Pataki urged New Yorkers to "embrace the dream" that King envisioned while he led the effort to bring equal rights to all Americans. More than 500 people joined Pataki and other officials at the state's 20th annual King Day festivities held at the Empire State Plaza in Albany.

Pataki told the audience that we need to "try to get to the mountaintop together" when it comes to racial equality.

Sunday night at Shea's Performing Arts Center in Buffalo, there was a celebration in King's honor. The event featured song, dance, poetry and drama. Also Monday, the Amherst Diversity Coalition planned to honor King with a tribute at Amherst Town Hall.
