FBI Announces $20,000 Reward in Case of Missing Woman

By Mark Scott

Buffalo, NY – The FBI Friday created a $20,000 reward in connection with the disappearance of Yolanda Bindics of Jamestown. She's been missing since leaving her job at a Family Dollar Store on the evening of August 10th.

Bindics' sister Anne Chmielewski said she's pleased the FBI is providing the reward. Speaking with reporters at the Buffalo FBI office Friday, Chmielewski said she believes her sister is still alive.

"Absolutely I do. I think someone actually has her," Chmielewski said. "With this reward being offered, somebody who knows where she may be will hopefully speak up. We never imagined that we could come up with this kind of money."

Jamestown police officials say the reward comes at an appropriate time because their leads have been drying up. They describe the investigation as "exhaustive." Police say the search for Bindics is centered in Jamestown but add they have investigated leads in Texas, North Carolina and Canada.
