Lockport, NY – The community is mourning the weekend death of broadcaster Clip Smith.
Best known for his television sportscasts on Channel 7 in the 1970's and 1980's, Smith also worked at several area radio stations.
His resume included play by play of the UB Bulls on WBFO when the team was playing at the Division Three level in the 1980's.
Smith, who was 63, died Saturday afternoon after his car passed a stop sign and was struck broadside by a minivan in the town of Royalton.
Smith also twice was a candidate for mayor in his hometown of Lockport, and was a member of the Lockport school board at the time of his death.
