Buffalo, NY – The University at Buffalo has moved up a notch in the "US News and World" report rankings of "Best Colleges."
UB is no longer listed in the third tier of the annual best colleges listing. The 2005 rankings now place the university at 120th among the top National universities. It's tied with nine other schools including Northeastern University and Seton Hall.
The rankings are based on several factors such as peer assessment, freshman retention rates, faculty resources and SAT scores.
Harvard and Princeton are tied for the number one spot. The rankings for best colleges also lists other schools in the region in several categories.
For instance, in the Best Northern Universities Master Programs, Alfred ranks 16th, Canisius College 25th and St. Bonaventure University 27th.
On the list for best value, Cornell is posted at 17th, the University of Rochester ranks 32nd and Niagara University is tied in 56th place.
