Clarence Woman Trampled by Bison

By Eileen Buckley

Clarence, NY – A woman was killed Wednesday night on her farm in the town of Clarence.

Erie County Sheriff Patrick Gallivan says a 54-year-old Clarence woman was apparently trampled to death by bison. It happened after 8:00pm. A family member found the woman in a fenced-in bison pasture along Sesh Road.

Authorities believe three bison on her farm trampled her. It took at least two attempts to recover the body. The Sheriff's Department Air One helicopter was used in the initial rescue attempt, but it was unsuccessful. The Bison continued to charge at the rescue crew and helicopter.

The victim's name is being withheld until full notification to the family is complete.
