Buffalo, NY – A former Adelphia Communications accountant says John Rigas repeatedly wired himself money from the company. The testimony was heard Monday during the fraud trail of Rigas and his two sons.
Former accountant LeMoyne Zacherl says says he conducted an internal investigation and discovered the money wiring. But he says Rigas continued to have money wired by Adelphia even after changes were made to internal accounting.
Zacherl testified that he was certain John Rigas promised to stop, but a short time later more funds were wired to another Rigas company, the Empire Sports Network in Western New York. Adelphia sent $250,000 to Empire which was then transferred to back to John Rigas.
