Buffalo, NY – Governor Pataki confirmed late Thursday afternoon that Definity Health will build a new customer service center in the Town of Tonawanda.
Word of Definity Health's plans first surfaced on Wednesday. Thursday, both the Governor and company officials formally announced Definity will build a 50,000 square foot facility at the Colvin Wood Business Park in Tonawanda. Construction is expected to take a year to complete.
Definity Health will acquire a division of North American Health Plans in Amherst, which currently provides customer service for Definity. The jobs of 240 North American employees will be preserved while Definity has plans to create 360 more in the next three years.
Pataki said the company's decision to locate here is yet another boost to the region's economy.
Definity is locating in Tonawanda's Empire Zone, making it eligible for tax incentives and other benefits. The company is also eligible to apply for a $900,000 capital grant for the purchase of office furniture and equipment.
