Buffalo, NY – There's a tentative agreement to end a strike by 6,500 American Axle workers at plants in Michigan and Western New York.
The walkout at the auto parts maker forced General Motors to halt some production at a truck plant in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
The United Auto Workers union called the walkout after its four-year contract expired.
The deal will need ratification by the union members, but workers were expected back on the job Friday afternoon.
The UAW says the agreement is a four-year deal. It says the two sides settled about 9:45 Friday morning.
The workers went on strike this week, including 2,000 union members at three plants in the Buffalo area.
