Buffalo, NY – About a dozen citizens voiced outrage over talk of any potential pay raises for Erie County Executive Joel Giambra and other top elected leaders.
Members of the Erie County Citizens Salary Review Commission are considering 40 to 50 percent pay raises. But after hearing citizens say it's not the time to give out pay raises in this economic downturn, the Commission did not issue any recommendations Friday.
The commission stressed its mission is only to make recommendations based on equity and parity. The County Legislature must approve any pay raises.
The Commission will reconvene in two weeks.
