Buffalo, NY – It's another successful end for the United Way. This Fall's campaign wrapped up Thursday, raising a total of $18,942,212, exceeding the goal by $9,000.
Campaign leaders feared they would fall short. But Co-Chair William Lawley said some last minute pledges and donations put the fundraising drive over the top.
"To see the volunteers working over the past several days from 7:00 in the morning until 10:00 at night was heartening," Lawley said. "They were making phone calls, asking for commitments, saying 'we're in trouble and in need of your help.' That's what I think is so inspiring to us."
Lawley said now that the goal has been reached, the United Way and its agencies can once again focus on helping people who are in need of their services.
