Buffalo, NY – The Ars Nova Musicians celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Viva Vivaldi Festival. Good morning. I'm Bill Raffel with Music Notes.
Musicians from the Buffalo Philharmonic will travel to different churches around the city at 6:30?p.m. on the first four Sundays. Each program will include one of the Four Seasons and Music Director Mary Louise Nanna promises many more treats.
See Mary Louise Nanna and the Ars Nova Musicians open the Viva Vivaldi series with Gloria, Spring from the Four Seasons, and Carol Wincenc, Sunday (11/2) at 6:30?p.m. in Westminster Presbyterian Church on Delaware Avenue downtown.
Future concerts take place at Holy Trinity Lutheran on November 9th, First Presbyterian on Symphony Circle on November 16th, and Holy Angels Roman Catholic on Porter Avenue on November 23rd.
Also this week the Buffalo Philharmonic welcomes English conductor James Judd for Elgar's First Symphony and Mozart's 24th Piano Concerto with Stephen Prutsman as soloist, Saturday (11/1) at 8?p.m. and Sunday (11/2) at 2:30?p.m. with preconcert talks an hour earlier.
Joel Revzen conducts his final concert as Music Director of the Western New York Chamber Orchestra and welcomes famed pianist Joseph Kalichstein as soloist in Beethoven's Third Concerto.
At UB, two faculty members are giving recitals? Clarinetist John Fullam on Tuesday (10/28) with help from a number of local musicians in Slee Hall, and Soprano Tony Arnold with a program of contemporary music on Thursday (10/30) at 8?p.m. in the Baird Recital Hall. And, the Royal Serenders Male Chorus will sing Sunday (11/2) at 6?p.m. in Slee.
The Erie County Chamber Winds are in concert Wednesday (10/29) at 8?p.m. in Rockwell Hall at Buffalo State College. The New Chamber Ensemble gives a free half-hour recital Sunday (10/31) at 12:30?p.m. in Saint Paul's Cathedral downtown.
Organist Charles Bradley accompanies the famed silent movie Phantom of the Opera Friday at 7:30?p.m. in Saint James Episcopal Church on Main Street in Batavia.
