Buffalo, NY – Erie County Medical Center has appointed Michael Nagowski as its new chief operating officer.
The ECMC Board of Managers voted ten to nothing to approve the appointment Thursday. He'll assume his new duties in October.
"Michael brings a strong administrative background to our organization," Dr. Roger Kaiser Jr., chief executive officer, said in a news release. "We feel that he possesses the right blend of qualifications to help us meet the challenges that lie ahead for ECMC, and I have no doubt that he will play a key role in moving our mission forward."
Nagowski is a Western New York native and Saint Bonaventure University graduate who is leaving a job in Erie Pennsylvania for the ECMC post.
The chief operating officer's position has been vacant for three years. It was never filled when Sheila Kee was promoted to chief executive officer. She has subsequently left ECMC.
