A list of auditions for local choral groups, plus a Beethoven Sonata preview.By Bill Raffel, WBFO
Buffalo, NY – The Chair of UB's Music Department will perform Beethoven's three final piano sonatas. Good morning. I'm Bill Raffel with Music Notes.
Stephen Manes has performed all of Beethoven's sonatas twice before. But for this recital on Saturday (9/6) at 8 p.m., Manes will turn to this final Sonata, Opus 111, along with Opus 109 and 110. He says performing them again is like revisiting old friends.
See Stephen Manes perform the final three piano sonatas of Beethoven, Saturday (9/6) at 8 p.m. in Slee Hall on UB's North Campus.
Also this week, Soprano Mary Beth Wrobel will present Polish songs, Italian arias and more Friday at 8 p.m. in the Montante Cultural Center of Canisius College, accompanied by pianist Olivia Lyons. But inquiring minds want to know, for an encore, will she sing Stormy Weather?
