Clark Tries to Unravel Truth Surrounding Bike Arrests

By Mark Scott

Buffalo, NY – The nine people who were arrested last week during a Critical Mass bike ride in Buffalo will appear in City Court Friday. The charges range from disorderly conduct to felony assault. The bicyclists counter they were the victims of police brutality.

The bicyclists say they were peacefully pedaling down Elmwood Avenue when police began issuing tickets for traffic violations. When the bike riders began asking questions, they say the police became belligerent, and used their night sticks in making arrests.

But top officials in the police department contend it was the bicyclists who became unruly and that officers used appropriate force in subduing them.

Trying to unravel the truth in all this is Erie County District Attorney Frank Clark. Click the "listen" icon above to hear his interview with WBFO's Mark Scott.
