Buffalo, NY – The Buffalo Board of Education's Finance Committee met Wednesday night to discuss the coming school year's budget.
The $491 million budget is $10 million lower than the current year's spending plan, reflecting deep school aid cuts in the new state budget proposal.
The school budget includes the elimination of 605 teaching jobs and 242 other district positions.
It also cuts programs such as pre-kindergarten classes, extra tutoring help, sports, extracurricular activities and other non-state-mandated functions.
