Longtime News Columnist Bob Curran Dies

By Mark Wozniak

Buffalo, NY – Color us saddened to learn of the death of longtime Buffalo News columnist Bob Curran.

The Boston native, a decorated World War II veteran, was a booster of military service people. He was noted for his requests to readers to "hang tough" and to "say a prayer for our guys Over There."

Curran was 80, and died Thursday after a long illness in a Long Island veterans' home.

His column in the News ran from 1967 until his retirement four years ago this month.
