Albany, NY – Celebrating the Erie Canal's heritage is the focus of six proposed interpretive centers along the western New York section of the waterway.
A state commission is recommending six centers at a total cost of $5.6 million. They would be located in Buffalo, the Tonawanda, Lockport, Medina, Rochester, and Lyons, east of Rochester.
Details on funding sources was not available in the 55 page report issued on Friday.
