There's always room for cello in a string quartet.By Bill Raffel, WBFO

Buffalo, NY – An up and coming String Quartet performs for the Buffalo Chamber Music Society. Good morning. I'm Bill Raffel with Music Notes.

Next week, the Miro String Quartet will wrap a residency with part of the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center. But first, the quartet comes to the Mary Seaton Room of Kleinhans tomorrow (Tuesday, February 4) at 8 p.m.

Founding member Joshua Gindele started playing cello at age three, after realizing the violin wasn't for him.

The Miro String Quartet certainly sets a great example for other musicians in terms of friendliness and also for musicality. See Cellist Joshua Gindele and other members Tuesday (2/4) at 8 p.m. in Kleinhans, with a pre-concert talk at 7:15.

The Brass players of the Buffalo Philharmonic will also use the Mary Seaton room with Ron Spigelman leading an Intimate Portraits concert. That's Sunday (2/9) at 4 p.m., following a jazz concert with Chucho Valdes Friday (2/7) at 7:30 p.m. in the main auditorium. And the BPO Woodwind Quartet visits the Montante Cultural Center at Canisius College Tuesday (2/4) at 7:30 p.m. as a part of Fine Arts Week.

The Buffalo Philharmonic Chorus Chamber Singers present works for Valentine's Day Sunday (2/9) at 3 p.m. in Saint James United Church of Christ on Main Street in the Village of Hamburg.

Baritone Malcolm Merriweather and Pianist Andrew Kotylo give a free half-hour recital in Saint Paul's Cathedral Friday (2/7)at 12:30 p.m.

Finally, the Canisius Concert Band, Chorale, and Chamber Orchestra are in concert Saturday (2/8) at 7 p.m. in the Montante Cultural Center.
