Buffalo, NY – Rochester businessman Tom Golisano is still interested in buying the bankrupt Buffalo Sabres.
Golisano sent a letter to NHL commissioner Gary Bettman restating his interest to buy the Sabres and keep them in Buffalo. Golisano says his $65 million bid does not include requests for public assistance.
Golisano's potential re-entry into the picture comes as Mark Hamister faces his third deadline Friday to complete his conditional purchase.
Hamister and partner Todd Berman are asking for about $40 million in state and local assistance. Holding up their bid is a request for the state to refinance a $24 million loan taken out to help build HSBC Arena.
