Buffalo, NY – Modigliani fans may still be able to squeeze in a visit to see the artist's work in Buffalo. The Albright Knox Art Gallery is extending hours for the final days of the popular banner exhibition.
The curtain will come down on Modigliani in Buffalo this Sunday. But due to popular demand, another five hours are being added to the final days of the landmark exhibition.
There have been almost constant crowds at the Albright since Modigliani took center stage at the Gallery in October. More than 50,000 people from near and far have flocked to see works by the modern art master and his contemporaries of Monparnasse.
Cheryl Orlick, gallery spokesperson, says the added hours probably still won't be enough -- but it's all they can do.
"We can't keep the show any longer. It has to move along to Houston next week," Orlick said. "It always happens that at the last minute everyone realizes they've missed something terrific and have to get here to see it.
"By adding five hours total, we'll be able to admit another 1,000 people."
Orlick says the gallery can only accomodate about 250 people moving through the exhibit at one time. So, tickets must be purchased in advance because they are timed and dated to manage crowds.
The exhibit will be open from 11am until 5pm Wednesday through Thursday, 11am until 9pm Friday and on Saturday and Sunday from 11am until 7pm.
