Waltz into the New Year with the BPO!By Bill Raffel, WBFO

Buffalo, NY – The Buffalo Philharmonic throws a New Year's Eve gala, complete with music of the Strauss family. Good morning. I'm Bill Raffel with Music Notes.

Music Director Joann Falletta launched the first New Year's Eve concert three years ago. And she says everyone at Kleinhans was surprised at how successful it was.

Celebrate the New Year with Joann Falletta and the Buffalo Philharmonic Tuesday (12/31), with dinner starting at 6 p.m. and the concert at 9 p.m.

Then Joann will be on the podium for a pair of classics concerts on Friday (1/3/2003) at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday (1/4) at 8 p.m. It's an all orchestral program, meaning no soloist, featuring works the BPO will record for a CD to accompany this summer's exhibit at the Albright Knox, called "Masterworks from the Phillips Collection." Highlights include Berlioz's Overture to Benvenuto Cellini and Rachmaninoff's The Isle of the Dead.

And that's Music Notes. I'm Bill Raffel. Happy New Year!
