Buffalo, NY – City comptroller Anthony Nanula is resigning to take a job with the state. Nanula will step down from his elective office on December 31 to join the staff of newly elected State Comptroller Alan Hevesi.
Nanula will be deputy comptroller for local government affairs and economic development.
In 2001, Nanula was exploring a possible run for state comptroller. But he withdrew from consideration in the wake of the city's massive fiscal crisis.
Prospective candidates to replace him include Common Council members who are losing their jobs to downsizing, President James Pitts and Majority Leader Rosemarie LoTempio.
