Buffalo, NY – A Canadian sports network is reporting that the sale of the Buffalo Sabres will be revealed by this week.
TSN reports sources have indicated to the network that a "tentative" deal to purchase the Sabres will be announced within the next 24 to 72-hours.
The two lead groups interested in buying the team are lead by Rochester billionaire Thomas Golisano and Buffalo businessman Mark Hamister.
While the National Hockey League approval of the final deal could take months, Hamister said he expects league officials to make a decision by Friday.
Among the complicating factors are whether the Sabres' broadcast properties are part of the package, how much of the team's debt to Adelphia Communications will be repaid, and the team's declining attendance.
