The ASQ celebrates its 25th anniversary.By Bill Raffel, WBFO

Buffalo, NY – The Amherst Saxophone Quartet is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year. Good morning. I'm Bill Raffel with Music Notes.

These selections from Johann Sebastian Bach's Art of the Fugue will open a concert to be broadcast live on WBFO this Thursday (11/21) at 8?p.m. And you're invited to come to our Allen Hall Auditorium to be part of the audience.

Tenor Saxophonist Steve Rosenthal says the group started out as four college graduates wanting to play chamber music and over the years has helped to advance the saxophone quartet in general.

Help the Amherst Saxophone Quartet celebrate its 25th anniversary by coming to WBFO's Allen Hall Auditorium Thursday night (11/21) at 8?p.m. It's free. Or if you can't make it, then tune in. They'll repeat the concert Friday (11/22) at 7:30?p.m. in Westminster Presbyterian and a week from tonight (Monday 11/25 at 8?p.m.) in the Ujima Company's Theatreloft. Thanks to Tenor Sax Player Steve Rosenthal for joining today.

Also this week, The Gallery Players of Niagara give a free recital tomorrow (Tuesday 11/18) at 8?p.m. in Daemen College's Wick Center.

The Baird Trio performs Beethoven's Achduke Trio, Wednesday (11/20) at 8?p.m. in Slee Hall on UB's North Campus.
