Buffalo, NY – Construction has started on a long-awaited new supermarket on Niagara Street near downtown.
Tops Markets officials say the building's foundations are now being poured.
The new store is adjacent to, and double the size, of a current Tops market. It's expected to boost the fortunes of other businesses in the area.
The new Tops is scheduled to open next spring.
Construction is also expected to start in the next month or two on another city supermarket, a Tops market on Jefferson Avenue.
