Buffalo, NY – An accident involving one of the Miss Buffalo cruise boats and the International Railroad Bridge Wednesday morning has sent at least two people to the hospital. The boat was on a cruise with elementary school students from Maple West in Williamsville. Two passengers on board the boat were taken to Millard Fillmore-Gates Hospital for treatment. There were an undetermined number of minor injuries.
The two Miss Buffalo boats were traveling through the Black Rock Canal when the accident occurred. The bridge, which swings open and closed, caught the canopy of the Miss Buffalo II as it was passing. There were 175 passengers on board the Miss Buffalo II. The Miss Buffalo I was not involved in the accident.
The boat remained sea-worthy and was taken to a nearby marina where the students were allowed to depart.
The students were taken by buses back to school.
