Music Review: 'Istoriya: The Best Of The Ukrainians'
Music critic Chris Nickson has a review of the new "best-of" collection from the Ukranians. The band is best known for its quirky covers -- many of which are on Istoriya: The Best Of The Ukrainians. Nickson says their more traditional songs are worth hearing, as well.

It's called "A New Stereophonic Sound Spectacular", and it's a new take on the so-called trip-hop sound, combining elements of hip-hop music and ambient, but slower and spookier. Melody Maker Closes
The famed British music magazine is being absorbed by another publication after 74 years of making pop bands and driving the British music scene. The Maker, as it was known, publishes it's final issue today. It championed jazz, pop, and rock, from Louis Armstrong to Oasis. NPR's Rick Karr reports.

NPR's Renee Montagne talks to percussionist John Densmore about the new symphonic tribute to the rock band, The Doors. Densmore and the other two surviving members of the group like the album, which is getting mixed reviews. Their instrumental parts from the Doors repertoire were transcribed and arranged by Jaz Coleman and are performed by Nigel Kennedy and the Prague Symphony Orchestra.
