Community Conversation about Affordability
Community Conversation about Affordability
A good life is getting harder and harder to afford. Each community has unique challenges and concerns. Good Neighbors Getting it Done in WNY is holding a series of Community Conversations about Affordability throughout Erie County and the Southern Tier.
The first in the series will be Monday, May 4th at the Elks Lodge, at 428 Central Ave, Dunkirk at 6pm.
The community is invited to attend a neighbor to neighbor discussion about the affordability crisis that is affecting our lives. As the wealth of the United States has had an enormous shift to the very top, political power has shifted with it. Congress has abandoned its role as a check on who is taxed and how the administration spends our tax dollars. We invite voters in Chautauqua County to talk to each other. Decide which questions are most important for you and your neighbors, then pose those questions to Aaron Gies (pronounced Geese), Democratic Candidate for Congress, who will lead the room in conversation around the topics you choose.
Each congressman represents 761,000 people. How we spend our federal dollars reflects what we value as a nation. Unless it presents a good photo op, the only way to have your worries acted upon by the current Congressman is to be a rich donor. Did the One Big Beautiful Bill help people in NY 23? Is the money going for war actually keeping us safer? Is it helping farmers and rural communities or anybody who is struggling? These are the broad questions that Aaron Gies and Good Neighbors Getting it Done in WNY are asking. We want to hear the questions the people across Nick Langworthy’s district are asking, because it is clear that he is not listening.
Good Neighbors Getting it Done in WNY is non-partisan, all volunteer, unpaid, community group of Western New Yorkers who promote Democracy and the Constitution while giving voice to the less powerful. We hold politicians of all parties to account for their actions.
