SUNY Buffalo artist, Asher Freudenhammer-Glass announces the opening of their debut solo exhibition titled Blood of My Blood. The exhibit features a variety of works, including oil paintings, print, fiber, and collage. The exhibition will be held at Princessa’s Studio & Art Gallery located at 1271 Hertel Avenue, Buffalo, Ny, 14216, and run from November 16 - November 28. There will be an opening reception on Sunday, November 16th from 5:00 – 7:00 PM. Both the exhibition and the opening reception will be free and open to the public.
Based on a series of letters written to their estranged mother, Blood of My Blood is an emotional and symbolic exploration of the artist’s emotionally abusive upbringing and coming-of-age, centered around the relationship between themselves and their mother. By using natural themes and references to the Torah and other religious work, the artist offers the viewer a glimpse into the experience of a childhood torn by fear and want and guides them through the process of coming to terms with ones’ own injuries. Blood of My Blood blends writing and visuals to engage the audience in an ultimately triumphant narrative about overcoming one’s circumstances in a restrictive environment.

Asher Freudenhammer-Glass is an award-winning multidisciplinary artist and soon-to-be graduate of Buffalo State University whose work is inspired by storytelling, theology and philosophical concepts. Their work engages deeply with the world around them, using the past to respond to the moment and telling stories about what it means to be human.
