Buffalo, NY – Erie County Executive Chris Collins will be issuing free prescription discount cards to residents. The cards will provide discounts on prescriptions for uninsured buyers or prescriptions not covered by the buyer's insurance program.
Collins says this discount program is being paid for by pharmacies rather than tax dollars, and that providing savings on prescriptions will actually help the county.
"Let's face it, most people spend whatever discretionary income they have," Collins said. "If we can save $3 million for the population in Erie County, there's a good chance most, if not all of that money, is going to be spent back in the county, which is going to help drive jobs and sales tax."
The discount cards will be mailed to county residents and will also be available and accepted at most Erie County pharmacies.
