Buffalo, NY – It was an inspirational moment Thursday for the area's homeless. Pastor Bob Timberlake -- who led the way to build the City Mission men's shelter that now stands on Tupper Street -- returned to Buffalo to deliver his last wish. He was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor.
A Timberlake Fund has been established in his honor to help the area's homeless men, women and children. Pastor Bob served as executive director of the City Mission from 1977 through 1986.
Timberlake has worked over the last 40 years helping the homeless in five major cities.
"The most wonderful years of my life were spent working with the Buffalo City Mission," Timberlake said. "I will always be thankful for you people in Western New York."
Pastor Bob now resides in Nebraska. He is expected to live another six months, but says he will dedicate the remainder of his life to helping the poor.
