Haley, the former governor of South Carolina, has been a fierce advocate for President Trump's policies at the United Nations. It is not immediately clear what prompted the move.
U.N.: Civilian Casualities Rise In Afghanistan
The United Nations has just released a grim report on civilian casualties in Afghanistan over the last year. Casualties rose 14 percent in 2013, with nearly 3,000 people killed and more than 5,500 injured.

Rice Urges U.N. Unity on Iraq
With the U.N. Security Council locked in a debate over a new resolution demanding that Iraq disarm or face war, the Bush administration's mantra continues: War is the president's last choice, but Saddam Hussein has very little time left. The message was delivered again by National Security Adviser Condoleezza Rice in an interview with NPR's Juan Williams for Morning Edition. Her remarks held out faint hope for a diplomatic solution to the crisis, if the Security Council acts.

Top U.N. arms inspector Hans Blix, en route to Baghdad, says he expects difficulties in assessing whether Saddam Hussein is hiding weapons of mass destruction. But he warns his team will not accept any resistance to the checks. NPR's Nick Spicer reports.
U.N. Team Finds Empty Warheads in Iraq
U.N. weapons inspectors find 11 empty chemical warheads in an ammunition storage area in southern Iraq. They are said to be in excellent condition, but it's unclear if they've ever actually contained chemical agents. NPR's Kate Seelye reports.
