France, Russia Pledge Veto on Iraq 'War' Resolution
Russia and France announce they will vote against a U.S.-backed resolution that would set a March 17 deadline for Iraqi disarmament. Both have veto power on the U.N. Security Council. A vote initially expected Tuesday will be delayed. Hear from NPR's Nick Spicer, NPR's Melissa Block and Mohammed Aldouri, Iraq's U.N. ambassador.
Rumsfeld Visits Baghdad
U.S. Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld visits Baghdad to assess the security situation there as the U.S. seeks to enlist more U.N. help in postwar Iraq. Rumsfeld says 10,000 to 15,000 more soldiers are needed, but he doesn't want to use American troops. Allies want the United States to cede more administrative control of the nation to U.N. authorities. NPR's Emily Harris reports.

, whose five-year term as U.N. Secretary General ends in December. The U-S has refused to support him for a second term, much to the outrage of other U.N. members who think it is an election year strategy by the Clinton administration.
U.S. Sees 'Gaps' in Iraqi Weapons Report
U.S. Ambassador John Negroponte cites "systematic holes and gaps" in Iraq's arms declaration to the United Nations. He spoke to reporters after U.N. chief arms inspector Hans Blix briefed U.N. officials on the 12,000-page declaration. NPR News reports.
Sudan Leader's Visa Request Puts U.S. In Diplomatic Bind
The president of Sudan wants to travel to New York next week to attend the United Nations General Assembly. But the U.S. doesn't want to grant that visa because he is accused of genocide. Renee Montagne talks to Colum Lynch, a reporter for The Washington Post and Foreign Policy magazine, about why this diplomatic issue.

Apple Invests $1 Billion In Chinese Ride-Hailing Company Didi Chuxing
Apple is investing $1 billion in Chinese ride-hailing service Didi Chuxing. Apple Chief Executive Tim Cook says the move will help the company gain a better understanding of the Chinese market. In China, Didi already leads Uber, so this investment sets the stage for a big competitive battle between Apple and Uber.
