Buffalo, NY – City residents will have more time to prepare challenges for property assessments. The Common Council unanimously approved an extension.

The deadline was scheduled for this Thursday, New Year's Eve. But because of the holiday, Mayor Brown asked lawmakers to provide city residents with more time to submit their challenges. The deadline is now January 15th.

Delaware District lawmaker Michael LoCurto say his District usually experiences the biggest assessment increases.

"There were over 4 thousand homes in the Delaware District that got their assessments changed. I believe that was the second highest since I have been here," LoCurto.

LoCurto says his office is assisting close to 100 Delaware District residents to protest the reassessments of their homes.
