Albany, NY – Governor Spitzer hit the road Tuesday, criticizing State Senate Republicans for failing to adopt his campaign finance reform measures. He took his case to Republican strongholds in the Capital District.
Spitzer says his bill would limit campaign contributions and where they come from. He says Republicans seem "unwilling to break their addiction to the free flow of money."
"I am embarking today on an effort to go to the public across the state to say we can do better," Spitzer said. "Things will change only when citizens and activists across the state ask their elected representatives whose side are you on."
Senate Majority Leader Joe Bruno says Spitzer should be putting his efforts into negotiating instead of criticizing Republican. He says if the governor would stop getting temperamental, there could be agreements on this and other important issues.
