It is another windy day in Western New York. The National Weather Service has issued a High Wind Warning until 11 p.m. this evening and a Lakeshore Flood Advisory until 2 p.m. this afternoon. The forecast also calls for showers with temperatures around 50 degrees. Winds will gust up to 60 mph.
"Another windy day in store," notes National Weather Service Meteorologist Kirk Apffel. "Everywhere is going to have some pretty strong winds today."
"The strong winds are going to help push the water to this end of Lake Erie and that is going to cause the lake to rise a bit," says Apffel. "Probably the biggest concern is if anybody has boats they left in the dock and haven't got those out from the summer season."
"This system is finally going to leave us alone on Friday," says Apffel. "Then we have another system coming in for Halloween. Most of the day time should be just cloudy and maybe some showers coming in during the evening on Halloween."
What about snow? "You're all clear for the next seven days," says Apffel.
Yesterday, the winds and rain battered the area, knocking down tree limbs and power to some areas.
Erie County Sheriff Timothy B. Howard reports Deputies responded to 29 reports of trees and wires down obstructing roads throughout the Sheriff’s patrol areas yesterday. Deputies provided traffic control, assisted in tree and limb removal and checked the status of many state, county, and town roads.
