Buffalo named 12th best place to own a home in U.S.

Porch.com

Buffalo has been named the 12th best place to own a home in America by the website Porch.com.

Porch.com Senior Vice President and Head of Communications Craig Cincotta says the site surveyed thousands of residents in 67 cities  about their feelings regarding issues like safety, education and taxes.

"We wanted to find out how do people really feel in the moment," says Cincotta. "So much can change. We polled a representative sample of well over 10,000 homeowners just to get a sense of how they feel."

"One of the areas that you guys were the highest was security and safety," says Cincotta. "The other thing was educational opportunities."  Buffalo also ranked high on commutes as well.

"When I think of Buffalo, I think of a smaller city," says Cincotta. "One of the things that we heard from people in some of the bigger cities is for people to really to start feeling great about where they live, traffic is such a concern for people. In a lot of places, getting around is incredibly hard for people. I think that there's a strong sense of community in some of the cities. For myself, when I saw Buffalo jump off the list, I though yeah that makes sense to me."

Number one on the Porch.com list is Denver.  Number 67 is Memphis.
