The city of Buffalo showed off one of two brand new sidewalk sweepers Monday.  Mayor Byron Brown test-drove the sweeper at the corner of Jefferson and East Ferry.

City Public Works commissioner Steve Stepniak says these new  sidewalk sweepers can clean all debris in their path on sidewalks and landscaped areas.

"We wanted to get the most universal, and one we could use for multiple tasking," said Stepniak.

Mayor Brown said he's committed to making Buffalo one of the "cleanest city's in America."

"These new green machines build on our continued commitment to creating a clean and inviting destination for residents and guests who visit Buffalo every year," said Mayor Brown.

The two sweepers cost $74,936.00 and enable city crews to clean congested sidewalks, parking lot or business districts.

The city says the new sweepers will assist residents and property owners to help clean up the neighborhoods.
