Buffalo, NY – Lance Corporal Timothy Serwinowski attended Niagara Community College after high school and then joined the Marines in 2008. He found himself deployed to Afghanistan, and on June 21, 2010, a sniper's bullet took his life.
In a memorial ceremony held at the Raymond Klimek Veteran's Park in North Tonawanda, a bench was dedicated in the soldier's honor on Saturday.
Corporal Jacob Pitcher served with Serwinowski and remembered him as an upstanding solider and a good friend.
Assemblyman Robin Schimminger claimed that the bench will carry Serwinowski's memory long into the future. Family members intend to visit the bench on a monthly basis and on the soldier's birthday.
