Buffalo, NY – County Comptroller Mark Poloncarz, a Democrat, has announced his candidacy for the Erie County Executive's race.

WBFO spoke with Poloncarz after his announcement on Saturday, and he identified a disconnect between Republican County Executive Chris Collins and his constituents as a reason that change is needed.

The Collins camp has released a statement criticizing Poloncarz's performance as Comptroller, claiming that he has politicized the post and that he is beholden to his party bosses.
