Buffalo, NY – The Erie County Democratic Committee is recommending the appointment of Diane Terranova as the interim successor to former legislator Kathy Konst.
Legislator Konst left the Legislature last month to become the new commissioner of Environment and Planning in the Collins administration. Diane Terranova will serve as 5th district legislator through December 31st. She's a life-long Lancaster resident who works in the county comptroller's office.
Even though her tenure will be a short one, Terranova says it's important that 5th district residents have a voice in budget planning for 2010. The Democratic committee's recommendation of Konst is expected to be approved by the County Legislature at its next meeting September 10th.
Because of the timing of her departure, Konst's name will still be on the ballot in November, virtually assuring the election of Republican Dino Fudoli.
