Albany, NY – A judge's refusal to settle the power struggle in the State Senate is leaving the chamber more deeply gridlocked than when the standoff began June 8th.
Democrats are now saying they won't appeal. Instead, they're offering to negotiate a political solution with Republicans.
But the coalition of 30 Republicans and one dissident Democrat argues the court action dismissed the Democrats' challenge and leaves them in charge. For now, Senate Republican Leader Dean Skelos says the coalition will not negotiate a power sharing agreement.
The Democrats respond that there is nothing in the judge's dismissal that upholds the controversial June 8th vote that put the coalition in power.
