Buffalo, NY – More than 80 percent of union members who work at American Axle plants in the Buffalo area have voted to ratify a new contract that would end a three month strike.
The tentative agreement calls for the closing of the Tonawanda Forge plant within a year. Manufacturing at the American Axle plant in Buffalo ceased earlier this year. The company's Cheektowaga plant will remain after being threatened with closure during the course of contract negotiations.
National results are expected by the end of the week.
