Buffalo, NY – Erie County nurses are saying no to give backs. A bargaining committee for registered nurses at ECMC, the County health department and County home, rejected a memo of understanding with management.
The deal was created to meet a deadline at the Medical Center so it could qualify for a $15 million county subsidy.
The New York State Nurses Association represents 800 nurses in the county. The union say it was a last minute deal that was poorly constructed.
The union also claims the deal demanded "excessive" givebacks that would cripple ECMC's ability to recruit and retain nurses. The union is also accusing ECMC's CEO, Michael Young, of misrepresenting terms of the deal.
