Buffalo, NY – The Buffalo and Erie County Historical Society is making a leadership change as it collaborates with Buffalo State College.
A two-year agreement will allow the Historical Society and Buff State to share resources, management and facilities.
Long time Historical Society executive director William Siener will leave his post. But he will head across the street to become a senior curator at the school's Fordham Regional History Center. Over the next two years Cynthia Conides will become acting executive director of the historical society. She is an associate history professor at Buff State.
Under the agreement, the college will gain access to the Historical Socieyt's rich collection of artifacts, books, manuscripts and photographs. It will benefit the school's historical research programs and provide hands on-training for museum students.
The Historical Society will have access to Buffalo State faculty, students and expertise to build on its programs.
This is a much needed boost for the history museum which has lost significant funding from Erie County.
