Buffalo, NY – Tragedy can happen to anyone...at any time. WBFO's Gabe DiMaio tells the story of a local man buoyed by friends and colleagues after an accident.
On Sunday August 7th...in an instant... Mike Andrzejewski's life changed when he was involved in a motorcycle accident. His left leg was amputated. That's bad enough if you're someone who makes a living behind a desk but made worst still when your business often includes 12 to 14 hour days on your feet.
Mike is the chef and owner of a restaurant in Kenmore -- Tsunami. Immediately, help came from staff who pulled extra duty and people from the local restaurant industry chipped in too. The restaurant never closed.
Now, the local restaurant community is helping Andrzejewski in another way -- a benefit this weekend to honor Mike and celebrate his new lease on life but also to help out. The benefit will feature an auction, music, libations and food from area restaurants. "Stand up for Mike A" will take place Sunday afternoon at the Mary Seaton Room at Kleinhans Music Hall.
