Buffalo, NY – The New Millennium Group is once again calling for a world class "signature" bridge to replace the current Peace Bridge structure.
The Buffalo and Fort Erie Public Bridge Authority will begin a public workshop this weekend for public review of several concepts.
"You have to design a landmark now," said Jeff Belt, a New Millennium Group member who for several years has campaigned for a new six-lane signature bridge. "You can't get away with building Grand Island bridges anymore."
The Peace Bridge Authority says the public will be allowed to submit their favorite three bridge concepts May 3rd through 9th. But the New Millennium Group says the authority's choices are "bland and uninspiring."
For several years the organization has been supporting the creation of a new, six-lane signature bridge.
