Albright-Knox's Douglas Schultz Announces Retirement

By Mark Scott

Buffalo, NY – The long-time director of Buffalo's Albright-Knox Art Gallery is stepping down.

Douglas Schultz says he's retiring after 30 years at the gallery, the past 19 as its director. Schultz held the job longer than any other director in the museum's 140 year history.

During his tenure, Albright-Knox acquired more than 1,000 works of art and the museum's endowment quadrupled.

Museum officials have formed a search committee to find a new director.

Schultz will remain in the post through October.
